Yabgo Palace Turtuk was built by Raja Turab khan in the 16th century in turtuk. He was the ruler of Yabgo dynasty which ruled the Chorbat region of Baltistan. In 1823, Ahmed Shah of the Maqpon dynasty of Skardu, attacked Khapulu Baltistan and destroyed all the palaces. Raja Ahmad Shah looted wealth worth 40 trunk from this palace. In the late 1840s the Dogra ruler Raja Gulab Singh of Jammu & Kashmir sent General Zorawar Singh who annexed Baltistan into Jammu and Kashmir in 1905 Yabgo Abdullah Khan descendant of the Yabgo dynasty renewed the palace, used it as a Haveli.
From 1948 till 1971 Turtuk was part of Pakistan occupied Kashmir. In 1953 the Pakistani Army used this Palace as a shelter.
Yabgo Abdullah Khan appealed in the Lahore High Court as a result Pakistani Army had to vacate the palace and paid the due rent. And in 1971 India recaptured this region.
